Speak to Dr Imtiaz Ali Kalyar, Consultant Interventional Cardiologist, by secure video or phone — wherever you live in Ireland. These are formal booked consultations for symptom review, results interpretation, blood pressure and cholesterol management, follow-up and second opinions, most weekday evenings, at the same fee as an in-person visit at our Naas clinic. Where a hands-on examination or an on-site test is needed, in-person review in Naas is arranged for a weekend.
Who You'll See
Online consultations are carried out personally by Dr Imtiaz Ali Kalyar — FRCP London, specialist-registered with the Medical Council of Ireland (IMC 102093) and the UK (GMC 6082421). He has substantive consultant experience across UK and Irish cardiac centres and was a site principal investigator for the SENIOR-RITA trial, reported in the New England Journal of Medicine in 2024.
The same consultant sees you online as would see you in person. The established physical clinic in Naas is available whenever a face-to-face assessment or an on-site test is the right next step.
Who It's For
Suitability for remote assessment is confirmed by Dr Kalyar for your specific situation. This is not an emergency service.
How It Works
Call 089 656 7597 or email info@naascardioendocrineclinic.ie. Self-referral and GP referral are both accepted — a referral is not required.
Share any existing ECGs, echo or Holter reports, CT calcium scores and recent blood results ahead of time so the consultation focuses on decisions, not admin.
By video or phone, most weekday evenings 16:00–19:00. Dr Kalyar takes a full history, reviews your data, assesses risk and discusses the plan with you directly.
A clinic letter goes to your GP. Any tests or an in-person weekend review in Naas are arranged as the next step.

Dr Imtiaz Ali Kalyar, Consultant Interventional Cardiologist (IMC 102093, GMC 6082421), FRCP London. He holds substantive consultant experience in the UK and Ireland and was a site principal investigator for the SENIOR-RITA trial reported in the New England Journal of Medicine in 2024. Online consultations are carried out personally by Dr Kalyar, the same as his in-person clinics.
A great deal of cardiology is history and data. Over video, Dr Kalyar can take a full cardiac history, review your symptoms, go through existing ECGs, echocardiograms, Holter monitor reports, CT calcium scores and blood results, assess and adjust medication, calculate your cardiovascular risk, and give a clear plan or a second opinion. What cannot be done remotely is the physical examination — listening to the heart and lungs, checking pulses and blood pressure in person — and any test that has to be performed on site.
Common reasons include: reviewing palpitations or a known irregular heartbeat that is not causing collapse, managing high blood pressure, interpreting cholesterol results and setting a treatment plan, cardiovascular risk assessment and prevention advice, reviewing an ECG or echo done elsewhere, follow-up after a heart attack, stent or ablation once you are stable, heart-failure medication follow-up, and second opinions on an existing cardiology plan. Suitability is confirmed by Dr Kalyar for your specific situation.
Where a physical examination is needed for safe assessment, or where a test must be done at the clinic — such as an in-person echocardiogram, resting ECG, or ambulatory blood pressure and Holter fitting — an in-person appointment in Naas is arranged, on a Saturday or Sunday. This often follows directly from the online consultation, so the video visit is not wasted.
Yes. Dr Kalyar identifies which tests you need and these are arranged — either locally to you through your GP or a local service where possible, or at the Naas clinic where the test must be done here. Results are then reviewed with you at a follow-up video, phone or in-person consultation.
Yes. Online cardiology consultations are open to adults anywhere in the Republic of Ireland — Dublin, Cork, Galway, Limerick, the midlands, the west and rural areas included. You do not need to travel to Naas for the consultation itself. If a hands-on examination or a test that must be done here is needed, that is arranged separately at the Naas clinic on a Saturday or Sunday.
No. Both self-referral and GP referral are accepted for online cardiology consultations. A GP referral letter is helpful because it provides your history, medication list and recent results, and can be sent securely to the clinic through Healthmail, but it is not required to book.
Yes. A clinic letter summarising the assessment, findings and plan is sent to your GP after every online consultation, the same as after an in-person visit, so your primary care team can continue shared care and issue or adjust prescriptions locally where appropriate.
Yes, where it is clinically appropriate. Dr Kalyar can recommend starting, stopping or adjusting cardiovascular medication — for example blood pressure tablets, statins or rate-control medication — and this is communicated to you and to your GP in the clinic letter so the prescription can be issued or updated. Some changes will sensibly wait for a test result or an in-person review first.
The same as an in-person visit: €230 for an initial consultation and €150 for a follow-up. This is a self-pay clinic. Patients with private health insurance may be able to claim outpatient consultant benefits depending on their policy, and should confirm eligibility directly with their insurer before booking.
By video call or phone, most weekday evenings between 16:00 and 19:00, Monday to Friday. In-person clinics run on Saturdays and Sundays in Naas. You book by calling 089 656 7597 or emailing the clinic, and the video link is sent to you before the appointment.
An online consultation is not for emergencies. Chest pain or tightness, pain spreading to the arm or jaw, sudden severe breathlessness, fainting or a blackout, or a fast irregular heartbeat with chest pain or collapse all need immediate attention — call 999 or 112 or attend your nearest Emergency Department. This clinic does not provide emergency or same-day acute care.
