Frequently Asked Questions

Clinics run every Sunday from 9am to 5pm at Suite 5, Vista Primary Care Clinic, Ballymore Road, Naas, Co. Kildare (Eircode: W91 E6H2). All consultations are by appointment only.

If you have an urgent query outside clinic hours, please email info@naascardioendocrineclinic.ie or call 089 656 7597 and we will respond as promptly as possible.

We aim to offer appointments within 1–4 weeks of receiving a referral, depending on clinical urgency and availability. Urgent referrals are prioritised — please flag this clearly in your referral letter or when contacting us.

Once we receive your referral or booking request, we will contact you within 1 working day to confirm your appointment.

Initial consultations typically last 45–60 minutes. Your consultant will take a full history, review your investigations, and discuss a management plan.

Follow-up appointments are typically 20–30 minutes, focusing on results, treatment response, and ongoing management.

Please bring the following:

• Your GP referral letter (if applicable)
• A list of your current medications (including doses)
• Any recent blood test results or investigation reports
• Relevant imaging reports (ultrasound, MRI, CT, ECG, etc.)
• Your insurance card (if claiming through health insurance)
• A list of questions you wish to discuss
• If you use a CGM or insulin pump, bring the device or access to its data report

After submitting the booking form or contacting us, here is what to expect:

Step 1: We receive your request and review the details.
Step 2: We contact you within 1 working day to confirm your appointment date and time.
Step 3: You attend the clinic on your scheduled Sunday appointment.
Step 4: A consultation letter is sent to your GP (with your consent) within 7–14 days of your appointment.

Yes. If you need to cancel or reschedule, please contact us at least 48 hours in advance to allow us to offer the slot to another patient. Please refer to our Cancellation Policy for full details.

A GP referral is strongly recommended. It allows the consultant to review your full medical history, current medications, and the clinical reason for the referral before your appointment — leading to a more efficient and thorough consultation.

Self-referrals are also accepted. If you are self-referring, please bring any relevant test results, letters, or medical records to your appointment.

GPs can send referral letters by email to info@naascardioendocrineclinic.ie. Please indicate the clinical urgency and the specialty required (Endocrinology / Cardiology).

We provide a suggested GP Referral Template — GPs are welcome to use their own format. We will contact the patient directly once the referral is received to arrange an appointment.

Yes. With your consent, a full consultant letter summarising the consultation, findings, and management plan will be sent to your GP within 7–14 days of your appointment. You will also receive a copy if requested.

All consultations are conducted by our named consultants — Dr Syed Kashif Hussain Kazmi (Consultant Endocrinologist) or Dr Imtiaz Ali Kalyar (Consultant Interventional Cardiologist). You will always see the consultant named in your referral — not a registrar, junior doctor, or locum.

Naas Cardiology & Endocrinology Clinic is a self-pay clinic. Depending on their policy, patients may be able to claim outpatient consultant benefits from their insurer. Patients should confirm eligibility and reimbursement directly with their insurer before attending. The clinic cannot guarantee reimbursement.

If your plan requires a pre-authorisation number, please request this from your insurer before your appointment.

Yes. In Ireland, you can claim tax relief on medical expenses (including specialist consultations) at the standard rate of 20% through Revenue's Med 1 form or MyAccount on the Revenue website. We can provide a receipt for all consultations for tax purposes.

Payment is required at the time of consultation. We accept card payments and bank transfer. If claiming through health insurance, please bring your insurance card and any pre-authorisation reference number.

Endocrinology & Diabetes: Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes, obesity and weight management (including GLP-1 therapies), thyroid disorders (hypothyroidism, hyperthyroidism, nodules), adrenal conditions, PCOS, male hypogonadism, pituitary disorders, osteoporosis, and complex lipid disorders.

Cardiology: Chest pain assessment, hypertension, arrhythmia, heart failure, ECG and Holter monitoring, cardiovascular risk assessment, and post-intervention follow-up.

This depends on the clinical assessment. In many cases — particularly for diabetes or thyroid conditions where investigations are pending — we may request blood tests or imaging before initiating treatment. Where the clinical picture is clear, treatment may be initiated at the first consultation. Your consultant will discuss the plan with you at the appointment.

Our clinic primarily serves adult patients (18 years and over). For paediatric endocrinology or cardiology, please discuss with your GP for referral to the appropriate paediatric specialist service.

Yes. Free car parking is available on-site at Vista Primary Care Clinic. The clinic is accessible by car from the N7 (Dublin–Naas road) and is served by Bus Éireann routes in Naas town.

A consultant is a fully qualified specialist who has completed all postgraduate training and holds a Certificate of Completion of Specialist Training (CCST), and is listed on the Specialist Register of the Medical Council of Ireland.

At our clinic, all consultations are conducted by our named consultants — Dr Kazmi and Dr Kalyar. You will always see the consultant named in your referral, not a registrar or locum.
