Non-surgical weight management delivered by Dr Syed Kazmi, Consultant Endocrinologist — a full assessment of causes and weight-related conditions, GLP-1 and GIP therapy (Wegovy, Mounjaro) with proper titration and monitoring, and bariatric referral where it is the right option. In person in Naas at weekends, or by secure video most weekday evenings, at the same fee.
The Assessment
Who You'll See
Dr Syed Kashif Hussain Kazmi — MRCPI, FRCP Glasgow, CCT in Diabetes and Endocrinology, IMC 213626, GMC 6117450 — leads the weight-management service. An endocrinology background means the hormonal and metabolic drivers of weight are identified and treated, not just the number on the scale.
Medication is prescribed only after a full assessment and never sourced from unregulated online sellers.

Medical weight management is delivered by a doctor and treats obesity as a chronic medical condition rather than a willpower problem. It starts with a full assessment of the causes and of weight-related conditions such as Type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, sleep apnoea and fatty liver disease, then combines an individualised nutrition, activity and behaviour plan with medication where it is clinically appropriate, and clear monitoring. It is not a fixed programme sold as a package; the plan is built around your medical profile and reviewed as you progress.
For chronic weight management, semaglutide (Wegovy) and tirzepatide (Mounjaro) are licensed for adults with a body mass index of 30 kg/m² or above, or 27 kg/m² or above where there is a weight-related condition. Dr Kazmi assesses each person individually — BMI alone does not decide suitability — and reviews your history, current medication and any contraindications. They are not prescribed in pregnancy or when trying to conceive, or with a personal or family history of medullary thyroid cancer or MEN 2, and caution applies with a history of pancreatitis.
In the pivotal trials, average weight loss over roughly 15 to 18 months was about 15% of body weight with semaglutide 2.4 mg and about 21% with tirzepatide 15 mg, compared with about 3% on placebo, with wide individual variation. Loss is gradual, begins within the first weeks, and then plateaus. Results depend heavily on staying on an effective dose and pairing the medication with changes to eating pattern and activity; muscle-preserving protein intake and resistance exercise are part of the plan.
Monitoring includes review of weight, waist and blood pressure, blood tests appropriate to your health profile, and a check on tolerance and side effects — nausea is the commonest and usually settles as the dose stabilises. Almost all of this can be arranged locally to you, with home blood-pressure readings and blood tests through your GP or a local service, and reviewed with Dr Kazmi at follow-up video consultations. Review intervals match the dose-escalation schedule.
Surgery is considered for people with a BMI of 40 kg/m² or above, or 35 kg/m² or above with significant weight-related disease, particularly where medical management has not achieved an adequate result. Dr Kazmi discusses whether surgery is appropriate, provides the pre-operative endocrine assessment and optimisation, and refers to an accredited bariatric surgery programme. Medication and surgery are not mutually exclusive; some people use medication before or after a procedure.
No. Semaglutide and tirzepatide obtained from unregulated online sellers cannot be relied on for correct dose, sterility or authenticity, and using them without assessment and monitoring is unsafe. They are prescription medicines that require a proper medical assessment, a titration plan and follow-up. A private prescription is issued through the clinic where treatment is appropriate, and the pen is dispensed by a pharmacy.
Yes. Consultations are available by secure video or phone to adults anywhere in the Republic of Ireland, most weekday evenings between 16:00 and 19:00. In-person appointments run in Naas, Co. Kildare on Saturdays and Sundays. Where a physical examination or an on-site test is needed, the in-person visit is arranged as a follow-up to the video consultation rather than instead of it.
No. Both self-referral and GP referral are accepted for all consultations. A GP referral letter is useful because it provides your history, medication list and recent results, and can be sent securely to the clinic through Healthmail, but it is not required to book.
An initial consultant appointment is €230 and a follow-up is €150, the same whether you are seen in person in Naas or online by video. This is a self-pay clinic. Patients with private health insurance may be able to claim outpatient consultant benefits depending on their policy, and should confirm eligibility directly with their insurer before booking.
